Discord Deleted Message Logger
A Discord deleted message logger keeps the message after it is gone. LoggerBot captures the text, the author, and the channel of every deleted message and posts it to a channel only your staff can see — so “I never said that” has an answer.
It handles single deletions, channel purges, poll deletions, and removed files, and is part of the broader message logging category.

Message Deleted
LoggerBot is easily the best logging bot I’ve ever tried!
- Message Author:
- @Takashi
- Channel:
- # pro-logs

What gets logged when a message is deleted
- Message content — the full text of the deleted message, as it was last seen.
- Author — who originally sent it.
- Channel — where it was posted.
- Attachments — removed images and files are logged with their name and size — see attachment logging.
- Bulk deletes — a channel purge produces one summary entry with a count, not hundreds of separate logs.
- Deleted polls — when a poll is removed, the question and options are kept.
How it works
Discord’s delete event does not carry the message text — it only says a message with a given ID is gone. LoggerBot keeps a short-lived cache of recent messages so that when a delete comes in, it can still show you what the message actually said.
That means the bot has to be running when the message is both sent and deleted. It cannot show anything for messages that were posted before it joined, or while it was offline.
Setting it up
- 1Enable the Delete Message log (and Bulk Message Delete for purge summaries).
- 2Open the dashboard, pick your server, and set a main log channel — or run
/setlogallin Discord to create a channel per category automatically. See the getting-started guide. - 3Make sure LoggerBot can view and send messages in the log channel.
Frequently asked questions
Can I see messages deleted before LoggerBot joined?
No. The bot can only log deletions that happen while it is in your server and online.
Does it log messages deleted by moderators too?
Yes. Any deletion is logged, whether the author removed their own message or a moderator or automod did.
What about images and files that were deleted?
Removed attachments are logged with their file name and size under attachment logging, which pairs with the deleted-message log.
How are channel purges handled?
A bulk delete produces a single summary log with the channel and the number of messages removed, instead of one log per message.
