Role logs

Discord Role Logging

Discord role logging is where you catch a permission mistake before it becomes an incident. LoggerBot logs roles being created, deleted, renamed, recoloured, and — most importantly — permission changes, plus every role added to or removed from a member.

Role changes are read from the audit log, so each entry names the moderator responsible.

What LoggerBot logs

  • Role created / deletedthe role name and the moderator who made the change.
  • Role updatedname and colour changes.
  • Permission changeswhich permissions were added to or removed from a role.
  • Role icon changeswhen a role’s icon is set or cleared.
  • Role added / removed on a memberwhich role, which member, and who applied it.

Why permission logging matters

A role gaining Administrator or Manage Server is the kind of change that should never be silent. LoggerBot logs the exact permissions that changed and who changed them, so a mistake — or an abused staff account — is visible immediately instead of weeks later.

Role add/remove logs also make it obvious when someone hands out a staff role they should not have.

Setting it up

  1. 1Enable the Roles category, or the individual role create, delete, update, and permission logs.
  2. 2Open the dashboard, pick your server, and set a main log channel — or run /setlogall in Discord to create a channel per category automatically. See the getting-started guide.
  3. 3Grant LoggerBot View Audit Log so it can attribute each change to a moderator.

Frequently asked questions

Does it log which permissions changed, not just that the role changed?

Yes. The role-update log lists the specific permissions added or removed, along with name and colour changes.

Can I see who gave a member a role?

Yes. Role add and remove logs include the executor from the audit log where it is available.

Will it log roles assigned by other bots?

Yes. Autorole and reaction-role assignments are logged; you can exclude a specific bot under Ignore Options if needed.
